TITLE: Circulation Clerk - Kendallville Public Library - Limberlost Branch, Rome City, Indiana

REPORTS TO: Circulation Manager

WAGE: $7.75 an hour

WORK SCHEDULE: Part-time (13-19 hours), including daytime, evening and Saturday hours
Limberlost Public Library

SUMMARY: Wide range of public service, data entry and paraprofessional duties related to the general services and operations of the circulation department.
1. Uses online circulation system to check out materials to patrons, check in returned materials, renew library materials, locate library materials, and place holds and requests.
2. Completes paperwork required to register patrons for a library card or statewide public library access card (PLAC); processes library card applications; renews and replaces lost cards.
3. Accepts payment for fines and fees as well as subscription and PLAC fees. Also receives and records miscellaneous revenue (copies, faxes, etc.) received at the circulation desk.
4. Schedules meeting room use with the library's electronic calendaring software.
5. Explains and enforces library circulation policies and resolves simple patron issues.
6. Empties book drop.
7. Provides basic assistance, maintenance and support for copy/fax machine.
8. Directs patrons to the reference desk, children's department, or other appropriate locations.
9. Answers and directs incoming phone calls. Is aware of the staff schedules and library activities.
10. Inspects returned library materials for damages. Cleans materials and prepares them for use.

• Must be 18 years in age
• High school diploma
• Basic computer skills, including proficiency with a mouse and keyboard
• Personable, with good work image and attitude, detail orientation, enthusiasm for public service
• Understanding of the Topic Driven and ability to use online Public Access Catalog
• Fluent in English both oral and written; articulate over the phone and in person.

TITLE: Children's Assistant – Kendallville Public Library, Kendallville, Indiana

REPORTS TO: Children's Services Manager

WAGE: $10.00 an hour, based on experience

WORK SCHEDULE: Part-time (25 hours), day, evening, and Saturday hours as needed

SUMMARY: Are you a dynamic individual who loves to work with kids and their caregivers? The Kendallville Public Library is looking for a children's assistant to join our team.

Excellent candidates will be able to:

-demonstrate a strong knowledge of early literacy & childhood development

-develop creative STEAM and literacy based curricula

-develop cooperative programs between the public library and community organizations, including schools

-provide excellent customer service for all visitors

-work in a fast paced environment

-collaborate as part of a team

-adapt to changes

-know when to follow directives or take initiative

-multitask and prioritize responsibilities

-effectively use interview skills to best determine a customer's actual needs

-be flexible with a sense of humor

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates will need to be 18 years of age and hold a valid Indiana driver's license. A high school diploma is required (some college preferred), and the candidate must have a minimum of librarian certificate (LC6) or be willing to obtain required certification within a specific time frame. Basic computer skills are required, and knowledge of Microsoft Office software is a plus.
