The Adventure Walk Begins May 15

IMG_4840.JPGThe Kendallville Public Library is kicking off this year's Summer Adventure with last year's community prize!

The Adventure Walk, the winning project of the summer 2016 community vote, has recently been installed in Kendallville and Rome City. In Kendallville, the walk of 18 stations starts at the front of the Kendallville Public Library, and then continues in a loop around the library through Bixler Lake Park. View a map here. In Rome City, the walk of 9 stations starts at Grant Park and continues along the walkway connecting Grant with Kelly Park. View a map of the Rome City Adventure Walk here.

The Adventure Walk begins from May 15-31 with April Pulley Sayre's book, Rah, Rah, Radishes! Families can read about healthy eating while walking through the park. With rhyming text, this book celebrates fresh vegetables, nature's bright colors, and the joy of healthy eating. Its interactive spirit encourages kids to join the read-aloud fun, and little ones won't be able to resist the book's vibrant photographs.

This project would not have been possible without the generosity of the library's donors and partners. The Kendallville Park Department and Rome City Park Department worked enthusiastically with the library in the planning stages of this project, and assisted with much of the labor to install the stands. Alum-Elec Structures donated all the materials and fabrication for the stands, a huge cost savings to the library. Wick-Fab, Kendallville Glass, Kendallville Do-It Center, and Kline Builders all donated all or a portion of the materials and labor needed for the project. The library extends a big Thank You to all of these partnering businesses and organizations.

The Adventure Walk is available to the public. Anyone wishing to use the stands to commemorate an occasion is welcome to contact the Kendallville Public Library at 343-2010.

You will find a complete Adventure Walk schedule under Library Services.
