Nature Photo Winners Announced


The results are in! The Kendallville Public Library is ready to announce the winners of the Annual Nature Photo Contest, sponsored this year by Summer Tan 365 and the Gene Stratton-Porter State Historic Site.  

Entries were accepted in two age categories: Youth and Adult (18+). Photos were judged on composition, quality, and creativity. One “Best in Show” winner was selected from each age group, and this year two “Honorable Mentions” were awarded in the Adult category, as well.


Best in Show Winners are:

Sue Blasch of Auburn (Adult), “Dandelion”

Alegra Bovee of Wolcottville (Youth), “Summer Wren”

 

Honorable Mention Recipients are:

Jim Sprandel of Kendallville (Adult), “Heron in Flight”

Amy Hillegass of Waterloo (Adult), “Clematis”


During the Nature Photo Display from August 6-August 13 at the Limberlost Branch, the public had a chance to view all the photos and vote for their favorite to win the People’s Choice Award in each age group.

 

People's Choice Winners are:

Heather Neiman of Rome City (Adult), “Jeff the Bullfrog”

Aiden Hoffman of Rome City (Youth), “Monarch 1”

 

All those recognized receive a certificate, and the Best in Show and People’s Choice winners are given a monetary award as well.

All those who entered can pick up their photos at the Limberlost Branch beginning Friday, August 19.

This year's judges were: Alaina Carnahan, GSP Photographer/Arts Administrator; Dave Fox, Site Manager at GSP; Angie Turner, President of GSP Memorial Society.
