Donations Accepted for READ Program

If you haven't been to the Kendallville Public Library lately, you may be surprised at what you'll find.

You'll still see the basics of books, DVDs, CDs and magazines, but now there's more. In addition to being a "traditional" library, we're also a library of "things" (see more of our unique collections here: Want to take a GoPro on your ski trip? Check one out at KPL. Need a decorative cake for a birthday party? Pick up a pan at the library to bake and decorate it yourself for a personal touch. Need a new look for your home? Save on decorating costs by checking out an art print.

You see, the library isn't just about providing books to the's about providing what the community wants and needs. Sure, books are a part of that. But it's also a place to hold a birthday party or baby shower. It's the place to start your path to wellness with free Zumba classes. It's the place to try a new project, to learn a new skill or to find the answers you need.

Our community has invested in us, and we are working hard every day to make the largest positive impact in Kendallville and Rome City that we can.

Not only are we investing in our traditional collection, especially non-fiction, but we are investing in our MakerSpace, The Cortex. That's where all ages can Devise, Design and Discover, and it's the site of our free Make and Take projects. These projects, along with the Cortex equipment available, help create inventors and innovators. Learn more about The Cortex here: If you are interested in a tour of The Cortex, or would like to visit to see first-hand how we're impacting our community, don't hesitate to ask!

We hope that you will join us in our mission "To Provide Access to Information for Life." You can choose how you would like to participate. We have three options, and you are welcome to pick the one that best suits your business or organization.

1. Make a monetary donation to a library program. To participate, just download a form here and return it to the library with your contribution.  You can also donate via PayPal here. You can choose the program(s) you would like to support. New this year are Make & Take projects! These projects, available to anyone in The Cortex, are free for all.

2. Sponsor an annual magazine subscription. Each subscription costs just $25 for a year, and your organization will be recognized through a business-card sized ad on the current issue. Please fill out the information on this form to begin your annual magazine subscription.

3. Sponsor a Cortex Kit. Donate equipment for a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) kit that our patrons will be able to check out and use at home. We currently have items like a telescope, microscope, metal detector, GoPro Camera, art accessories and more. What can you donate? A staff member will contact you to discuss options.

Participating businesses will be recognized throughout the year for their support of the library, regardless of how you choose to donate. Don't forget, all donations are tax-deductible.
