Teen Robot Round-Up

This app-controlled robot gives you a new way to play. Choose from over 30 apps and launch a whole new world of gameplay. The result is limitless possibilities for new types of connected play that meld the virtual and real worlds for a fun gaming experience.

Sphero Challenges: 

Challenge 1: Hokey Pokey - Use the Sphero Macrolab App create a program that enables Sphero to dance to a verse of the Hokey Pokey.

Challenge 2: Make the Landing Count - Use the Sphero Macrolab App program Sphero to roll up the small blue ramp and leap a 5 inch gap landing in Sphero's circular stand.

Challenge 3: Ramps (There and Back Again) - Use the Sphero Macrolab App program Sphero to drive up a ramp and land on another lamp on its way down. Then get Sphero back to it's starting position using the same ramps.

Challenge 4: Color Drive - Use the Sphero Macrolab App program Sphero to change colors 4 times while driving around in a figure 8 shape.

Challenge 5: Obstacle Course - Use the Sphero Macrolab App program Sphero to successfully maneuver each of the 5 obstacles.

Challenge 6: Follow the Drawn Path - Use the Sphero Macrolab App program Sphero to follow the lines and trace the entire shape.

Challenge 7: All Terrain - Use the Sphero Macrolab App program Sphero to successfully climb the terrain park ramp and exit it on the opposite side using the rail system.

Challenge 8: LEGO Chariot - Use the Sphero Macrolab App program Sphero to successfully cart 4 small objects the distance of 2 feet. Then, turn Sphero 180 degrees and return to the starting point without dropping any of the 4 objects along the way.

Challenge 9: Put It In Neutral - Use the Sphero Macrolab App program Sphero to push a toy car 6 feet.

Challenge 10: Groot Falls - Use the Sphero Macrolab App program Sphero to topple Groot to the ground, then perform a victory dance around the fallen hero.

LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 makes building, programming and commanding your own LEGO robots smarter, faster, and more fun than ever. you'll be in control of robots that drive, shoot, slither, walk, slam, and spin – to name just a few of the actions that come with this awesome robotics set.

EV3 Challenges: 

Challenge 1: Maze - Use the EV3 Software program the robot to successfully navigate the maze.

Challenge 2: Retrieve the Circle - Use the EV3 Software program the robot to successfully move toward the circle, pick it up, and return it to start.

Challenge 3: Collect the LEGOs - Use the EV3 Software program the robot to successfully collect those 3 pieces and bring them back to the starting position.

Challenge 4: Trace the Shape - Use the color sensor and the EV3 Software program the robot to completely trace the lines of the shape.

Challenge 5: Stop Before It Hurts - Use the ultrasonic sensor and the EV3 Software program the robot to move toward the wall and stop 3 inches before it hits the wall.

Challenge 6: Tap Tap Go - Use two touch sensors and the EV3 Software program the robot to move forward after input from the top sensor and then move backward from input from the forward facing touch sensor.

Challenge 7: Follow the Straight and Narrow - Use the gyro sensor and the EV3 Software program the robot to move forward in a straight line even when turned off course.

Challenge 8: You Will Never Escape - Use the color sensor and the EV3 Software program the robot to continuously drive around in the circle but never leave.

Challenge 9: Victory Dance - Use the EV3 Software program the robot to do a victory dance around Groot without touching the hero. The dance must last at least 45 seconds.

Challenge 10: Project Push - Use the EV3 Software program the robot to drive a figure eight while pushing a toy car around with it. Don't lose the car along the way.

 

Successfully completing one of the Sphero or EV3 Challenges will earn a teen a few pieces of candy, a small bag of chips or a can of soda. Successfully completing all challenges for one robot will earn teens a large bag/box of salty or sweet snacks.
