During each Board of Trustees meeting, the board will allow interested community members to speak during a 15-minute forum. Anyone wishing to speak should fill out a form before the board meeting begins. Forms are available at the Kendallville Public Library or its Limberlost Branch, or can be downloaded here.
Anyone wishing to be placed on the library's board agenda for its monthly meeting, should contact the library director at least 10 days before the meeting. Please call 260-343-2010 or email info@kendallvillelibrary.org
Kendallville Public Library Board of Trustees members are appointed by three of the county's governing bodies. Two appointments are made by the Noble County Commissioners, two are made by the Noble County Council and three trustees are appointed by members of the East Noble School Corporation Board of Trustees. The Kendallville Public Library Board of Trustees meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. In addition to regular board meetings, there may be several public hearings or other special meetings called by the Board President or Library Director. Your attendance at all meetings is very important.
The Library Board is responsible for the library and all that happens in it. The Board has the ultimate responsibility for the success or failure of the library. To manage this responsibility, the board has five major tasks:
1. Set policies (IC 20-14-3-2)
2. Hire the director (IC 20-14-2-7)
3. Plan for the future of the library (IC 20-14-3-2 & 3)
4. Monitor and evaluate the overall effectiveness of the library (IC 20-14-3-2 & 3)
5. Advocate for the library in the community and advocate for the community as a member of the Library Board.
One seat on the Kendallville Public Library Board of Trustees is now available.
Linda Routsong is stepping down next month after serving on the board, and the trustees are seeking her replacement.
Any resident of the Kendallville Public Library taxing district, which includes Wayne Township, Orange Township and the area of Allen Township that is within the Kendallville City limit, is eligible to apply.
