Notice of Additional Appropriations

On October 10, 2023 the Kendallville Public Library Board of Trustees moved to proceed with the goal of updating and repairing the Kendallville Public Library (est. 2007) and its Limberlost Branch (est. 1997). These already beautiful facilities are due for maintenance and updates to meet the needs of our communities.

To help fund the updates, the Kendallville Board of Trustees adopted the preliminary bond appropriation of $5,575,000 on Tuesday, July 9 at its regularly scheduled board meeting. Prior to the date, Kendallville Public Library Executive Director, Mindy London, presented the proposed bond project to the Noble County Council and Kendallville Common Council on July 1 and 2.

The library's current bond is set to mature in 2025. The new bond will replace the old without raising tax rates, something that the board feels passionate about. The state of Indiana gives all taxing units a maximum debt capacity limit; the library's being $6.9 million. The upcoming bond project falls well under at $5.5 million. The 20-year debt holds $300,000 in soft costs/bond counsel fees/closing costs to process the bond.

Both council hearings are set for early August.
